Baby it's cold outside!

Okay I know I whined about the cold in my last post, but I swear that wasn't a challenge to see if the gods could make it even colder! Is this a preview of the entire winter? If so, I don't know how I'll make it!  I'm hoping I get some gift certificates to sporting goods/biking stores so I can stock up on cold weather wear.

One of my biggest fears right now is training outside in the cold winter months. I'll admit it - I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather. I've never enjoyed anything active outside in the winter. And I don't know how to prepare. For those reading who exercise outside in the winter months, how do you do it? How do you sweat in the cold weather without freezing? I hear UnderArmour is a good product - keeps the sweat off you. Also, my eyes tear up the minute I go outside, and I wear glasses (no contacts) - are there goggles I can wear over my glasses to keep the wind out of my eyes and keep them from getting all wet?
*sigh*

I promise my next post won't be so whiny...

Welcome to December!

Wow, it sure got cold! One morning, it was 61F, and by the time I left work it was in the 30s. Welcome to December, and winter. The thought of riding my bike outside in January, February, etc just makes me worry! I'm going to need some decent clothes! And I need to figure out what to do about my eyes tearing up - I went outside this morning for 2 minutes to feed the birds some old bread, and my eyes were filled with water by the time I came in. (Anyone who exercises outside in the winter, feel free to give me advice - I've never done any real winter exercising!)

I had a great week on the bike - logged two 2-hour sessions, and found out that Elvis movies make great riding companions - I mean, how can you pedal slowly when "Viva Las Vegas" is playing? :o) The TV in the room where the bike is set up is not hooked up to cable, so I'm making the best of my small DVD collection. An episode or two of Buffy also makes for a good ride.

I also lost 2.8 lbs this week - coupled with it being Thanksgiving week, I'm quite proud of myself!
